io iowa is still up for grabs. donald trump now leads senator cruz by five points with only four candidates in double digits. check out the the poll from last week, trump and ted krusz are up, marco rubio and ben carson have dropped. three points separating hurl clinton and bernie sanders, that's within the margin of error. we'll talk to two of the democrats in the gop race, donald trump and ted cruz. but first we have fox coverage on this final day of campaigning. let's speak to carl cameron. >> reporter: a stunning 45% in that des moines register poll says they could still change their minds in the republican caucuses tomorrow night.

obama a care. >> rubio feeling momentum casts cruz as rattled. >> it sounds like he's under pressure and maybe not reacting too well to it. which is problematic because presidents are under pressure every day. >> reporter: and the pressure is mounting for the caucus tomorrow night. the record turnout is 122,000 people for the republican caucuses in iowa and that was for the last one in 2012. some say it will be a bigger turnout, perhaps 160,000, but there is snow predicted the for tomorrow night. just a day before the iowa caucuses, hillary clinton is in full damage control, after the state department reveal they can't release some of her private, mails because they contain top secret material. chief white house correspondent ed hnry has the latest on the investigation and how it's affecting the campaign. ed? >> reporter: last may, hillary

clinton had a 41 point lead in that same bloomberg des moines register poll, now that lead as imploded. she is in a dead heat with bernie sanders and an e-mail problem that won't go away, a looming fbi investigation, and now confirming there were at least 22 top secret e-mails on her server. clinton is getting far smaller crowds than sanders, and she's stressing her experience, her close ties to president obama. while sanders is getting obama sized crowds. 3,500 screaming students last night at the university of iowa. the big question is tomorrow night will sanders get obama sized turnout from 2008, listen. >> i'm a progressive that actually likes to make progress, that's what i believe in. what we need is a plan and a commitment, and me, yes, thank you.

there's a reason he's engaging in personal insults, he doesn't want to talk about the issues, he doesn't want to talk about substance, it's the same reason he skipped the iowa debate. >> we have an interview that had last night and we have that same clip. >> let's not just have the insults, let's actually look at the record. for example, on obama care, donald trump supports expanding obama care to make it full on social medicine just like bernie sanders, and if donald trump is elected president, the federal government will be involved in every one of our health care. that is his position right now, it is identical to hillary clinton. >> i want to drill down into cruz care, because there's a statement you made about obama care that has gotten a lot of attention since the debate, here it is. >> we have seen now in six years

of obama care is that it is a job killer. millions of people have been forced into part-time work, have lost their jobs, have lost their doctors, have soon their premiums skyrocket. >> but senator, the fact checkers say you're wrong. since that law went into effect, the unemployment rate fell from 9.9% to 5%. and 13 million jobs were created. and 16.3 million who were previously uncovered now from coverage now. but more people have jobs and health insurance than they did before obama care. >> chris, the media fact checkers are not fair and impartial. they are liberal editorial journalists and they have made it their mission -- >> there's certainly no question that more people have jobs and more people have health insurance. >> number one we have to the lowest percentage of americans working today than any year since 1977, that's the fact.

you're thinking about, share what you're praying about. and over half of them didn't -- millions of americans have lost their jobs and people have been forced into part-time work, or have lost their health care, have lost their doctors or have seen their premiums skyrocket. >> what you would do when you are repeal obama care, how you would replace it. this is what you listed in the debate. sell health insurance across state lines, expand health savings accounts, make insurance portable so you can take it with you when you switch jobs, conservative think thetanings, these are all good ideas, but they're not going to give people who are uninsured now health care. >> the biggest barrier to insurance is cost. when you ask people why they don't have health insurance,

they say they can't afford it. to allow health insurance to be sold across state lines would drive down the cost and expand the availability of low cost catastrophic coverage. >> the national center for policy analysis, certainly not a left wing group, have both said thata kind of selling insurance across state lines would have minimal effect in expanding access. >> if you want more people to have choices, have you more choices and lower costs. if you want fewer people to have health coverage, you have higher costs. under obama care, the average family's premiums would drop $2,500. in fact the average families premiums have riszen $3,000. if you're a single mom, struggling to take kerry of your

kids, that's real money that you can't provide for your family. this law is a disaster. people are hurting. as i travel the country, everywhere i go, i talk to people. we had an event friday night. >> we're running out of time. i just want to ask you two more equestions. nobody doubts there are problems with obama care, i just wanted to explore those issues with you. one thing that struck me in the debate is that the other candidates disagreed with are you sharply, but it wasn't just about policies, it was more than that. take a look. >> what is particularly insulting, though, is he is the king of saying, oh, you're for amnesty, everybody's for amnesty except for ted cruz. >> this is the lie that his campaign is has touched upon. he's the most conservative guy and everyone else is a rain rhino. the truth is, ted, you've been saying anything you can to get votes. >> that's not political

over the des moines river. the question of whether donald trump would or would not attend the fox news debate, was a big gamble just before the caucuses. last night we spoke to trump for his first fox interview since the debate. he was on the road at a campaign event in davenport. mr. trump, welcome back to fox news sunday. i want to start with that new iowa poll, three weeks ago you were trailing ted cruz by three points, now you're leading by 5 points, i guess the question for you is how come? >> we had a great week, maybe even a great couple of weeks in iowa. i have a fantastic relationship with the people of awe iowa, the evangelicals and the people of

awe iowa. we have done a lot of work and have gotten to know a lot more people. but some very special things happened over to the last two weeks. >> 29% of people in the polls say they disapprove of your decision to skip the debate. what do you want to say to voters in these final hours before the caucuses who may feel that you snubbed them by not showing up at the one debate to be held here in iowa? >> you love fox and so do i and we get along great. but what happened is they put out a press release that was very nasty and it was taunting. >> i don't want to get into that. i'm just saying, what do you want to say voters who feel that you smnubbed them? >> i have to say that you have to stick up for your rights, you can't let people do that to you. just like if i was running the

country, i would stick up for the country. i had a tremendous event, a tremendous overflow crowd and for the president vets we raised $6 million. it was a great thing, it was a great decision and we'll do it again sometime, chris. >> okay. ted cruz, who i suspect you're familiar with, says the real reason that you skipped the debate is that you want to hide your liberal record from voters. here's mr. cruz. >> he doesn't want to debate cronyism, because donald supported president obama's t.a.r.p. bail out of the big wall street banks, donald supported president obama's stimulus plan. >> senator cruz says mr. trump that you're trying to hide your support for the bailout and the stimulus, you're trying to hide your record from voters. >> chris, i'm not trying to hide anything, i was a businessman, i had many different feelings about many different things.

and in business, you have flexibility. you can do many things, many different ways. what i am very sure of is that senator cruz has hid the fact that he had major loans from citibank and goldman-sachs that he didn't put on his financial addition loez your form. i wasn't in politics when i was a businessman, my views didn't matter, i wasn't a politician, for the last few months i've been a approximately politician. but he's got a situation where he didn't disclose goldman-sa s goldman-sachs, he didn't disclose citibank on his personal financial disclosure thing. he didn't disclose the whole thing that he was born the in canada, which probably makes it he's not even able to run. and he said he didn't even know he was a citizen of canada until 15 months ago. here's a couple of things, he didn't know he was a citizen of canada? give me a break, chris. >> you talked earlier about the

veterans event you held during the the bait and that you're proud of it. understandably so, you raised $6 million including a million dollars out of your own possibility. but "forbes" magazine looked at your record of supporting veterans groups over the years, and they found that from 2009 to 2015, the trump foundation donated $57,000 to groups helping veterans, but over the years, they say you gave at least twice that, 100,000 to $250,000 to of all things, the clinton foundation. >> what i have done is i have given a lot of different events for the veterans. we have -- i can get you a les of all of the events i have given in palm beach, florida and different hotels i have for the have the trans, i have opened up my a houses and in a kl of cases my buildings. but i can give you that list.

i did give to the clinton foundation, what i didn't know is that they would be using it for private aircraft and the clinton foundation was helping with haiti and lots of other things, so i thought it would be a good thing. but again i was a businessman and it was my obligation to get along with everybody, including the clintons and to the republicans and conservatives, as a businessman i had an obligation to do that, chris. >> we were talking about your support among the various groups here in iowa, 15% of republican caucusgoers identify themselves as evangelicals and you're doing very well with social conservatives. i know that you're cam paning today with jerry fallwell jr., the president of liberty university who endorsed you. and 52% of white evangelicals say that you would be a good or great president. and you don't fit the evang

evangelical social conservative profile and so why do you think you're doing so well with that group? >> i'm more honored when i hear that statistic what when i hear that i'm winning the poll by a pretty good number. and a few weeks ago i was down in this poll. but i think i may be more honored by winning among the evangelicals because i have just had a great relationship. when you have jerry fallwell jr. endorse me, that was a very big turning point. i went to liberty university, gave a speech, we set the all-time record for attendance, i can just tell you, there's something very special, as you know, i'm christian, i'm presbyterian, but there's been something very special with the evan swe ev evangelicals and my relationship with them. so i'm very happy about it. but it's been the support of

robert and jeffrey and many other pastors, we have had tremendous support from ministers, pastor and from christians generally and from evangelicals, so i'm very happy about it. >> let's take one issue, you say now that the supreme court has ruled that same-sex marriage is the law of the land and that any politician who talks with about wanting to amend the constitution is just playing politics? are you saying it's time the to move on? >> no, i'm saying this, it has been ruled upon, it has been there. if i'm a ---if i'm elected, i would be very strong in putting certain judges on the bench that i think maybe could change things. they got a long way to go. at some point we have to get back down to business. and there's no question about it. and most people feel that way. they have ruled on it. i wish it would have been done by the state. i don't agree with the supreme

court, it should be a state's right issue, and that's the way. the not the way they did it. this was a very surprising ruling. but i would have much preferred that they rule at a state level and allowed states to make a those rules themselves. >> are you saying that off you become president, you might try to a point justices to overrule the decision on same-sex marriage? >> i would strongly consider that, yes. >> finally, you were campaigning with your daughter ivanca, who's very pregnant, i think eight months pregnant, and you had a suggestion for how she could help the campaign, here it ivan if you had your baby in iowa. >> don't you think it would be

put together the new iowa poll from your paper, the des moines register, what you're seeing on the ground, where do you get a sense of the republican side things are headed tomorrow night? >> first of all, i think that that we see donald trump with a decent lead going into the iowa caucuses, a 5% lead is usually a pretty good indication. however, ted cruz really has a lot going for him in this poll. including the people who are most likely to turn out, the very conservative voters, evangelicals, we know that off there's a blizzard, they're going to shovel their way to the caucus. >> governor branstat, you have made it very clear, you're not endorsing anybody, but you kind of disendorsed somebody because you thought it would be a big mistake for iowa to support ted cruz because of his up

assumption of the ethanol mandate, you have had some nice things to say about donald trump about effective leadership and making america great again. so are you saying go with trump? >> what i'm saying is we have got a lot of great an dats, most of them lead ethanol. and cruz's voting record has been against ethanol, farm income is important. i'm the governor of iowa, i trust iowa voters, i trust my iowa cauc voters, they have ele month me very many times. but cruz's record has been against renewable fuels.

iowa leads the nation in ethanol production. we're the leader in wind energy, we just saw the wind energy tax credit extended, cruz is opposed to that. those are thousands of jobs in our state. people making wind blades and turbines and towers and we want to protect those jobs and we want to continue to grow the iowa economy. >> there are a couple of big stories going into tomorrow night, one is obviously who is going to win, and it seems it's likely to be one of those front runners, trump or krz, and marco rubio, is he a strong thursday or does he even finish third, how much can this result, these iowa caucuses going to reshape the republican this is. >> unless some of these candidates have done so poorly,

they're not going to be able to continue because you simply have to have money to continue. this is the way it's always been. and i would say this, by the way, about the trump support es, they don't particularly fit the proapproximate file of your iowa caucusgoer. but they are the most intense people i have ever dealt with, i see them all the time on twitter. they don't care for any criticism of him. my sense they will turn out. some of them may go to the wrong place, but i think they're going to be out in force, so i don't think there should be a low expectation of the trump supporters. >> a it's different from a primary, you have to show up at a school gym or a church basement, and you have to spend a cull of hours standing up for your person. we have asked you for equestions

from the panel. we got this on face book from mel van, he writes, i was disappointed in donald and think it could hurt him in iowa. do you agree? how do you answer, mel, and do you think trump's deassumption to stay out of the debate can hurt him in the caucuses? >> you would think it would, but it seems to be a no harm, no foul outcome. he clearly did very, very well in the very predictive, historically predictive poll. and within that poll are findings that really don't seem to indicate at all that people are penalizing him for having skipped and at the same time, the ratings for the debate were high. it's sort of seems to have neutralized on with both sides. >> governor, your sense, does the debate boycott hurt trmp, is it something that's going to affect votes? >> i certainly wouldn't advise anybody to skip a fox debate right before the election.

but the a fact that he had an event for veterans, they had a a huge turnout for that. he's a very unconventional candidate and he has done a lot of things that we thought would hurt him. it doesn't seem to have. i guess we'll find out on monday night. i just don't know. >> pat, the des moines register poll is interesting. basically almost 80% of voters either say they approved of the decision to skip or they just didn't care. but there was about 29% who said it did bother them. and 29% could with be a factor in a close race. >> but 29% said that it bothered them and 25% they said didn't care. so that's 4% difference on caucus night. maybe if the debate were last night, it would be right on the
